Travels with Rob

03.02.10
In Montreal, it has a real north american feel. There are some areas of Montreal with small brick buildings with lushly planted porches and intricate woodwork. Then there are 'downtown' areas with glittering multi-story skyscrapers. In front of these multi-storey monsters are the occasional remnant from the past, small rows of houses or handsome Victorian cathedral.t Montreal has beautiful green park in its centre, we strolled there and I ate a snowball. This is a multi-coloured concoction of frozen ice.

We visited the Canadian Architects Museum. The exhibitions consisted of architecture in space, an exhibition on windows and an exhibition on a greek architect who melded mathematics, architecture and music! The exhibition on windows was surprisingly good, if your eyes are the windows to your soul ...therefore windows might be the equilivant... Rob and I visited Habitat 67, this is an architects' wetdream, it is an appartment block consisting of concrete boxes intricately stacked on top of one another. We then cycled through a park containing the gritty remnants of Montreal's industrial past to a giant geodosic dome. A satisfiying day of site seeing!

04.07.10
We travelled all day in a small bus with an interesting mix of people from Britain, Germany, Taiwan and Toronto. We ended up in Riviere du Loup, a small french speaking town, peppered with timber houses and canadian flags. We visited the bottle store for booze. We saw the main attraction, a waterfall surrounded by cliffs and trees. This was slightly marred by brutal concrete walls to create a hydro electric dam.

05.07.10
We travelled to another town.

06.07.10
We are in Charlotte Town after a very satisfying day. This morning we say the Bay of Fundy and the flower pot rocks. These are huge sandstone rocks sanding together of singly near cliffs, capped with fir trees. This is what Canada is about for me, great landscapes and big cities.
